The big copier in the corner does most of the printing, copying and scanning in an office. When it shows "toner low", work slows down fast. Copier toner is named in a different way from desktop printer toner, so here is how to find the right one.
How copier toner is named

Be careful with "TN". Brother printer toners also start with TN, but they are completely different from Konica Minolta toners.
Where to find your toner number
- On the old toner. The label on the bottle or cartridge shows the exact name. This is the safest way.
- Inside the front door. Many copiers have a sticker there that lists the toner.
- From the machine model. The model name is on the front panel. Send it to us and we will find the toner for it.
Colour copiers need four toners
A colour copier uses black, cyan, magenta and yellow. Each colour is a separate toner and you replace only the one that is empty. Black normally finishes first, because most pages are text. Keep one spare black toner in the store room.
Waste toner box and drum
A copier collects used toner powder in a waste toner box. When the box is full the copier stops and asks for a new one, even if the toner itself is full. If your office prints a lot, keep a spare.

Is your copier rented?
Many offices rent their copier with a service contract. Toner may already be included. Check your contract before you buy. If the machine is your own, you buy the toner yourself.
Changing toner without the mess
- Change the toner when the copier asks for it. Taking it out early wastes toner.
- Follow the pictures on the box. Many toner bottles need a gentle shake before you fit them.
- If toner spills, wipe it with a dry cloth, and wash hands or clothes in cold water. Hot water makes toner stick. Do not use a normal vacuum cleaner.
- Store spare toner flat in a cool room, away from sunlight. Do not leave it in a car or a hot store room.
