Stickers are one of the cheapest ways to put your name on something. Food boxes, shop windows, delivery vans, equipment, gift bags: each one needs a different kind of sticker. Choose the wrong material and it peels, fades or turns to pulp when it gets wet. Here are the main types and when to use each one.
Paper stickers
Paper stickers are the everyday choice for indoor use: product labels, box seals, price tags and thank-you stickers on bags. They print in sharp colour and cost less than plastic. They are not waterproof, so do not use them on anything that is washed, kept in a fridge or left outdoors.
Vinyl stickers
Vinyl stickers are made of PVC plastic. They are waterproof and much stronger than paper. Use vinyl for shop windows, walls, machines, vehicles, bottles and anything that gets wet or is wiped clean.
The sun in Qatar is hard on outdoor prints. For stickers that stay outside, tell us before printing so we can suggest the right material and a protective lamination.
Clear stickers
Clear stickers have a see-through background, so only your design shows. They look neat on glass doors, jars, bottles and packaging. Remember that colours look lighter on a clear sticker, because the surface behind shows through. Dark, bold designs work best.
Reflective stickers
Reflective stickers shine back when light hits them at night. They are used on vehicles, site equipment, helmets, barriers and safety signs. Choose them when the sticker must be seen in the dark.
UV DTF stickers
UV DTF is a transfer sticker for hard surfaces. You press it on, peel off the top film, and only the design stays, with no background at all. It is popular for logos on mugs, bottles, glass, boxes and gift items. It is not for fabric.
Which sticker for which job
| Job | Use |
|---|---|
| Product labels kept indoors | Paper |
| Food containers, bottles, fridge items | Vinyl |
| Shop windows and glass doors | Vinyl or clear |
| Vehicles and site equipment | Vinyl or reflective |
| Logo on mugs, bottles and gifts | UV DTF |
What to tell us when you order
- Where the sticker will go: indoors or outdoors, and on what surface.
- The size in centimetres, and the shape: square, round or cut around your logo.
- The quantity.
- Your artwork as a PDF or AI file. A small picture from a phone will print blurred.
Signs and advertising on vehicles or shopfronts may need approval from the authorities. Check before you print.
How to apply a sticker so it stays
- Clean the surface and let it dry fully. Dust and oil are why most stickers fall off.
- Do not apply on a surface that is hot from the sun. Do it in the shade or in the evening.
- Start from one edge and press outwards with a card to push out air bubbles.
